Droughts hit many places hard last summer, with millions of people affected by hosepipe bans, and in some places the restrictions were not lifted and continue today. Droughts are complex beasts, comprising various types and undergoing changes over time. In a previous blog, we delved into the intricacies of droughts and heatwaves, explaining both their differences and how they are linked.

Keeping the public well-informed about the implications of droughts in their daily lives then can be quite challenging due to their complexity. This is where our new podcast, called ‘Droughtcast’, comes in. The aim of ‘Droughtcast’ is to give people the latest information on drought across England and Wales in easily digestible and bite-sized chunks. Featuring those who work at the heart of the water sector alongside CCW’s very own experts, ‘Droughtcast’ is a succinct, 15-minute summary of the big stories. We explain what it all means for the general public as well as the wider environment.

We’ll be producing Droughtcast at least every two weeks throughout the summer and autumn. You can find it on all major podcast players by searching ‘Droughtcast’. We’d love your feedback on all things drought, including any questions you might have. Please do tune in!
