Review of Independent Challenge Groups (ICG)

We’ve published a review of Independent Challenge Groups (ICG) in the water sector.

The review – which was commissioned by CCW and undertaken by Indepen – sought to understand how each ICG had been set up to challenge its water company’s business planning process. The report sets out examples of good practice across different areas and presents a checklist for each group to consider.

The review was a collaborative process with contributions (including a questionnaire and interviews) from ICG Chairs, company representatives and Non-Executive Directors, as well as input from CCW and the EA.

The aim of the review is to help each ICG ensure that they have the right arrangements in place to provide effective challenge and ultimately help achieve a better PR24 business plan that delivers for customers and the environment.
